Phase 2 Session: Upper Body & Core

WELCOME TO YOUR FUNCTIONAL UPPER BODY & CORE SESSION

This session is all about maximising your movement so please do not load the body up too much. Focus on maintaining a relaxed state throughout the session, so you are only using as much energy as you need to complete the exercise. This is an important element in triathlon for maintaining a high level of performance right until the end of the race.

Session Length: 21 Minutes

THE EXERCISES IN THIS SESSION ARE

1. Single leg abdominal curl

2. Single leg abdominal curl with rotation

3. Overhead alternating dumbbell raise

4. Side plank with dumbbell raise

5. Kneeling single arm dumbbell raise

6. Kneeling straight arm raise

7. Kneeling dumbbell arm circles

8. Plank with alternating shoulder tap

9. Spiderman prep

10. Step forward push up

11. Reverse fly

12. Plank with alternating leg lift

    • Your mat

    • Your light to medium dumbbells

    Note: light to medium dumbbells in a functional session are lighter than in a strength session as the focus is on the joint during these sessions.
