Thomas Roman


Tom has over 30 years’ experience in the fitness industry, having taught everything from Step, Pump and Aerobics, to Pilates group classes. He has operated a successful personal training business in several of Sydney’s top gyms.

Tom founded Roman Pilates in 2003, which was renamed RPX Fitness Studios in 2017, driven by his desire to integrate Pilates-based exercises into functional movement fitness training. As well as building a dedicated and expanding, client base, Tom has developed a Fitness Australia Accredited Courses, Integrating Pilates into Fitness Training. This is a complete Pilates Studio training course for Fitness professionals who are focusing on Functional Movement Training.

He is a Master Trainer for Surfset, Rip 60, and The Oov. Tom has recently developed “The Integrated Functional Training (IFT) Method” used for all forms of functional training equipment. This method has been implemented in physiotherapy practices in Australia and New Zealand and South Africa.

Prior to coming to Australia, Tom worked for the University of California’s Counselling Department teaching courses in Peer Counselling, and providing training in stress management, motivation, self esteem, leadership development and communication skills.
